Natick's Spring Town Meeting Begins Tuesday With Wide Variety Of Topics

The town's elected representatives will take up questions related to budgeting, employment and other matters.

NATICK, MA — Natick begins its Spring Annual Town Meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., in the auditorium of Kennedy Middle School, 165 Mill St.

The public meeting will begin with ceremonial remarks, the swearing-in of newly elected members, and a tribute to Paul E. Connolly, who died in February at 82 and was a longtime resident of Natick, serving as Town Moderator for years and as a member of the Town Meeting.

The agenda for this spring meeting includes a total of 18 warrant articles up for consideration.

They include a wide variety of budget articles for town operations, libraries, capital equipment and other purposes. There are also articles related to considering a report of the town’s Natural and Synthetic Turf Field Study Group, and to changing certain bylaws related to animal control.

The Spring Annual Town Meeting will also take up proposals that would allow the Select Board to extend the employment of Police Chief James Hicks and of Deputy Police Chief Brian Lauzon past the mandatory retirement age of 65, until reaching 67.

Town Meeting comprises 180 members, elected from Natick’s 10 precincts.
