The eatery, centered on shared dishes and drinks, is nearing its opening.

NATICK, MA — A new Vietnamese restaurant centered on shared dishes and drinks is nearing an opening in downtown Natick.

Nhau, a concept from Soall Viet Kitchen owner Sa Nguyen, is expected to open at The Block at 1 South Main St. in late August or early September, the commercial development announced on Tuesday. The restaurant will serve Vietnamese food and include a full bar.

The Natick Select Board voted unanimously on Apr. 29 to approve an all-alcohol on-premises license for Nhau LLC, according to meeting minutes.

Founder Sa Nguyen told the board the restaurant is intended to encourage community gatherings through food and drink. Plans call for about 50 seats and a menu of shareable dishes.

The restaurant will be one of three food concepts Nguyen is developing at The Block, which is a retail and restaurant development across from Natick Common.

The others are San Sushi Bar and Bún + Bao, a takeout-focused Asian street food business, according to the Natick Report.

Nguyen has operated Soall Viet Kitchen in Marblehead since 2012 and also runs Soall Café at the Cummings Center in Beverly.

The Soall Viet Kitchen website lists bánh mì, noodle dishes, rice bowls and other Vietnamese food among its offerings.

The Block has not yet announced an exact opening date for Nhau.
