Auto Dealers Unsuccessful in Suing Tesla for Setting Up in Natick Mall

The state's Supreme Judicial Court found in favor of Tesla.

The Massachusetts Association of Automobile Dealers, along with some individual dealers, were unsuccessful in its suit against Tesla, with the state’s Supreme Judicial Court ruling that they “lacked standing” for suing over Tesla setting up a gallery of its electric cars in the Natick Mall, reported the Boston Business Journal.

The decision upheld the lower court’s decision to dismiss the suit, which essentially argued that Tesla was operating a showroom in a mall without a license to open such a thing.

The ruling, argued the SJC, was based on the idea that the law is to protect dealers against manufacturers affiliated with a company, which was not the case.
