Taking Learning to New Heights

Hot air balloon rides demonstrate physics to Walnut Hill students!

At Walnut Hill School for the Arts we are always looking for new ways to make artistic and classroom learning come alive.

Science faculty member Tom Keenan, with the help of David Tanzer (father of student Sammi Bottom-Tanzer '13) gave students a unique opportunity to see physics in action earlier this week. Tanzer brought his hot air balloon to campus and gave interested students (and some brave faculty and staff members!) rides over the Hill. Afterwards students in Keenan's physics class worked on calculations based on the experience.

How's that for science education that goes "above" and "beyond"?
