Comella's Italian to Open Early April
JP Comella and his brother Matt will open their ninth restaurant in Natick center in early April.

For those looking for an excuse to take the kids out for dinner or hoping to try a new restaurant with homemade pasta dishes to please all palettes—your wait is nearly over. Comella’s, the well known family-owned Italian restaurant chain, is expected to open a new location in Natick by early April.
“We expect to be up and running in our new location, 45 Main St., by the first half of April,” co-owner JP Comella told Patch. The restaurant will fill the spot of the former , which recently closed.
Natick will be the ninth restaurant for Comella’s which began operation with a single store in Wellesley in 1988.

“We, my brother Matt and I, are co-owners and will continue to expand into areas that meet our demographics as long as we are profitable and can continue to hire great people like we employ today,” Comella said.
Comella’s is most known for their famous "mess"—a vegetarian based pasta dish that you can add to until your heart and stomach are happy.

“Everything is made on site,” Comella said. “Our mess starts with pasta, and then you can mix different things into it— chicken parmesan, eggplant, meats, etc…until you are pleased. Each one can be different, but you and I can have the same mess if we wish.”
Messes start at $6.99 and range to over $79.99 for a gigantic bucket that will serve anywhere from 20 to 25 people. The $6.99 portion is said to serve one, but could easily serve 2 or more with a reasonable size appetite.
Comella’s caters to families, couples and anyone looking for a cheap night out without compromising taste and quality.
“We are homemade, inexpensive food,” Comella said. “We are not a fancy night out; we are a replacement and we cater to families.”
Everything at Comella’s is made by hand and on site by an employee or one of several Comellas. The family-owned company consists of Dad Gene Comella, children Matt, JP and Erin, cousins and an uncle.
Comella’s prices range from $5 for a 16-inch cheese pizza cut into eight slices or a meatball sub, to $79.99 and up for a colossal mess bucket. You can also get a variety of pasta dishes from $6 to $8.99 or ravioli from $9.99 to $15.99.
“Natick is an area we’ve been scoping out for some time,” Comella said. “We are fired up and super excited to be here.”
