Daycare Appeals ZBA Decision to Block Move to Natick
Primrose School is appealing the Zoning Board of Appeals decision in December to prevent a new daycare center from being built on North Main Street.

The hopeful owner of a proposed daycare center on North Main Street has appealed the Zoning Board of Appeals to town. Curt Van Emon, who proposed the 12,000 square foot Primrose School facility, said he just wants to offer "high-end, educational childcare for Natick."
Van Emon said the appeal was filed Friday.
The Zoning Board of Appeals made the denial based on the decision that the traffic and safety issues caused would be than the space's current usage. Board members struggled with the decision, having to take into consideration the Dover Amendment, which prevents towns from making certain zoning restrictions for religious, educational and agricultural structures.

At the December meeting, board chairman Michael Hickey said he could not approve the proposal as conditioned and that the applicant had not offered to build a smaller facility, which could have impacted the decision.
Van Emon said once the appeal process is underway, there may be changes made to the original proposal.
