Dover-Sherborn Middle School Earth Club helps clean up the Charles River

Dear Friends, Great morning on the Charles up near the Bridge St. Landing in Sherborn, Massachusetts, (USA). The Dover-Sherborn MS kids did an outstanding job (plus their teacher and a few parents). We collected some beer cans, bottles, etc. from a little "party zone" near the Peters Reservation. And cleaned up the Bridge St. Landing (moderately trashed). The remainder of the river was in excellent shape: abundant swifts and red-winged blackbirds, a few painter turtles, and a Canadian Goose Family w/ 4 goslings. I was so glad the students got to observe first hand the amazing and stunning beauty of the River in this area ("their own backyard").
This was my second initiative with the DS Middle School Student Earth Club. A few weeks earlier we made "Recycle Buddy Bins." They're a great group and their teacher - advisor, Irene Wieder, is terrific. We made a salute to theTwo Hands Project in one of our last photo ops. --pat
