Suspect Detained After Racially Charged Incident At Natick HS

A man drove past the high school Wednesday, shouted racial slurs and shot a paintball gun toward the school.

NATICK, MA- A racially-charged incident shook the Natick school community on Wednesday.

At 2:45 p.m. a man drove past the front loop of Natick High School shouting profanity, threats, and racial slurs, according to the police. As the person drove off he showed what looked like a firearm and police later found was a paintball gun and reportedly fired three shots toward the school, according to a statement made by the school.

No one was harmed during the incident. Natick police said the individual is not associated with the school.

Natick police worked with the school to secure the area and ensure the safety of the students. The school was deemed safe for after-school activities. Police found evidence of three paintball shots at the scene.

The suspect was arrested offsite and taken into custody, according to the school district.

The man will be arraigned in Natick District Court on Thursday.

"We have no tolerance for racism or bigotry of any kind. We will address this incident and restate our core values tomorrow and every day at Natick High School," read a statement by the school district.

"We have no tolerance for racism or bigotry of any kind in the Town of Natick," said the Natick Police Department.

The incident is still under investigation.
