Environmental Bond Bill gives $600,000 to Natick projects.

State Representatives David Linsky, D-Natick), recently announced that the Massachusetts House of Representatives passed a $2.2 billion four-year environmental bond bill that will allocate funding for hundreds of environmental and conservation projects throughout the state.

These projects include $100,000 for the Natick Trail Committee to develop and maintain walking trails, and $500,00 for invasive aquatic plant species eradication at Lake Cochituate. It also includes local earmarks for $2 million toward aqueduct recreational trails, including the Cochituate Trail.

“The towns in my district offer many recreational opportunities to its residents,” said Rep.Linsky in a press release. “This funding will provide for needed upgrades to local fields and parks, protect area waters bodies, and continue preservation efforts in the MetroWest and across the Commonwealth. Massachusetts is a tourist destination for its bountiful recreational opportunities and this bill reinforces the Legislature’s commitment to preserving these natural resources for future generations.”
