13 th Annual Charles River Earth Day Clean-up

Populatic Pond, Norfolk (meet Mr. Con (Pat) at the Cochituate Dunkin Donuts - Wayland (corner of West Plain and Rte 27) at 8:30 am; (from which location we’ll travel together in caravan to Norfolk, then we’ll return to the D&D-Wayland at 1 pm)

Help us heal the River! Participate in The 13 th Annual Charles River Earth Day Clean-up, Sat., April 21, 2012, 9 am - 12 Noon.  Join us as we head up the Charles just above Populatic Pond in Norfolk. (see map attached)  We’ll travel by canoe and kayak and do both on-water and bank cleaning.  Two years ago Wayland, Natick HS students and teachers were instrumental in doing a masterful job of cleaning up this section of the river.  One of the country's oldest watershed organizations, The Charles River Watershed Association (CRWA) was formed in 1965 in response to public concern about the declining condition of the Charles.   They have achieved great progress: The Charles River Watershed Association is the 2011 winner of the International Riverprize, the world’s most prestigious environmental award! Consider this; you’ll  be among the thousands of volunteers who will gather up and down the 80 miles of the elegant River on this day.

Everyone can do something; we’re all in this together!
