Trail Work - Natick Trail Buddies

Dear Friends of Natick Trails,

a week (Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 am - 12 pm) volunteers gather at different trails and woodlands in Natick to help maintain walking trails and adjacent woods, streams, and wetlands.  It's part of the Big Heart Little Feet Trail Buddies Program.  We've been working on these beautiful trails for the past two years and we're making steady progress, thanks to a dedicated corps of volunteers ("The BHLF Trail Buddies").  We'd love to have you join us.  Contact Pat Conaway (508-740-9949) or bpconaway@gmail.com for more details.  We'll be going after the "resprout" of the Japanese Knotweed in the understory along the banks of Pegan Brook. Last year we made significant progress in this area.  I have several weed whackers (manual) that everyone can use.  If we knock it back now before it goes to seed, it will make a huge difference.  

 Trail Work will continue this week at Pegan Cove on Mon., 5/21 and will resume the following Wed., 5/29 after Memorial Day Weekend.  We're skipping Wed., 5/23 because we're committed to the Dug Pond Clean-up Chapter 2 on Wed., 5/23 from 3 - 6 pm.  Although we're making progress on the knotweed and garlic mustard, we have quite a bit left. Please join us.  And put this on your calendars as well: we will conduct Special Trail Buddies Sessions, June 4, 6, and 13, during which we'll collaborate with Mathworks Corporation on a Fisk Pond Clean-up, 10 am - Noon.  Meet at the Middlesex Path Parking area along Rte 135.  I will also make a special posting of this event on the PATCH.  There will not be Trail Buddies Trail Work for 3 weeks while I'm on vacation in California.  We'll get back to it on Mon., 7/9, 10 am.
