Fifth Middlesex Towns Can Now Apply for CARES Act Relief Funding

Municipality CEOs can apply online for funding to cover a range of local COVID-19 expenses

BOSTON- Local governments can now apply for financial assistance to help alleviate pressure on local budgets related to COVID-19 costs through a new state distribution process. Funding for this assistance will come from the Coronavirus Relief Fund authorized by the federal CARES Act.

"I am pleased to see federal funding now available to help our local communities," said Representative Linsky. "We are seeing budget crises across the board in all sectors and it’s important that we assist our local governments in any way we can during these uncertain times, especially with funds that will go directly to supporting local COVID-19 relief."

According to the Executive Office of Administration and Finance, the towns of the 5th Middlesex District are eligible for funding in the following amounts:

1) Millis is eligible for $729,147
2) Natick is eligible for $3,194,228
3) Sherborn is eligible for $382,736

Municipalities can direct this funding towards necessary expenditures including:
· Funding for first responders
· PPE procurement
· Testing
· Cleaning and disinfection services for public buildings
· Social distance learning
· Food assistance
· Shelter for vulnerable populations
