Former Natick Elected Official Pleads Guilty In Jan. 6 Riot Case

NATICK, MA — The former Natick Town Meeting member charged in connection to the 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol this week entered into a plea agreement with federal prosecutors, according to court records.

Suzanne Ianni, who last year moved to Saugus, pleaded not guilty in July 2021 to misdemeanor charges of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds.

The plea agreement says that Ianni could serve up to 6 months in prison and pay a fine of up to $5,000. A federal judge will sentence her on Dec. 2.

Ianni and members of the group Super Happy Fun America (SHFA) rented several buses to transport local residents to the Jan. 6 "Stop the Steal" rally in Washington organized by former President Donald Trump. She and SHFA vice president Mark Sahady were photographed later that day inside the U.S. Capitol along with hundreds of others.

Sahady and five other Massachusetts residents have been charged in connection to the riot: Brian McCreary of North Adams; Kevin Allen Chase of Seekonk; Noah Bacon of Somerville; David Lester Ross of Pittsfield; and Troy Sargent of Pittsfield.

Ianni was up for election in the spring, but had changed her voting address to a location in Saugus, the Natick Town Clerk confirmed.
