Girl Last Seen Leaving Natick Job: Detective Sticks With 40-Year-Old Cold Case
The Sherborn girl was leaving Natick to head to Martha's Vineyard, and was never seen again.

NATICK, MA—A 17-year-old girl was last seen leaving her job in Natick Center 40 years ago. Nicole Ridinger from Sherborn was leaving the Rainbow Restaurant to hitch-hike to Hyannis to get to Martha's Vineyard to see her mom over Labor Day Weekend.
A 33-year-old Sherborn detective continues to investigate this case, with only shreds of tips that have come in during four decades, reports WCVB-TV.
She disappeared on Sept. 2, 1977, and the only substantial tip came in nine years later when an elderly man said he had given her a ride to Hyannis after he was pulled over by a state trooper who asked him to do so. Authorities question the story, and the man has since passed away. The latest evidence based on details given by that elderly man suggest that Ridinger may have reached Cape Cod.
