Girl's Volleyball Sweeps Needham, 3-0.
The Red and Blue earned their fifth straight win of the season, as they cruised past the Rockets in three straight sets.
Consider Wednesday’s performance a gritty and scrappy effort by the Needham girl’s varsity volleyball team, who was swept by the Red and Blue in three sets.
“We take every game seriously and we play to win every ball,” Natick’s head coach Peter Suxho said. “We have [a] vocal center, [and] we’re doing our job. [Also] what we’re doing in practice, we try to do in [a] game and we did very well with [our] serving.”
The Rockets managed to keep things somewhat close in the first set, but were overpowered by the Red and Blue, who responded quite well to the various Needham serves. The Natick players located numerous open spots in Needham’s zone, which helped the Red and Blue not only win the first set, but also gain momentum for the second and third matches.

“We have some good tools and weapons, but today it was kind of more inconsistent [play],” Needham’s head coach Peter Arsenault. “A lot of miss-serves hurt us, there was enough good serves in the second game where if we didn’t have those, we would have won the game, so it was just a few mistakes that we may have to clean up.”
Needham’s best effort came during the second set, as Corina Andriescu, Karolina Serhan and Erica Richmond helped the Rockets remain in contention, but unfortunately Natick’s offense took advantage of a few Rockets mistakes, which carried into the final match too.

“We know what it feels like to play well, play together based on the outcome on Monday, so they just know what they need to do, [which is] become more consistent,” Arsenault said. “There was a few times where plays happened and things like that. It was a tough loss.”
Both squads will return to the court on Friday, as Natick travels to Dedham, while Needham will visit Weymouth, both matches are slated to begin at 4 p.m.
