Hi Friends,
As I've mentioned before, This The Trash-Free Natick Project is about a lot more than trash. This morning at the Sport Bike Area (just north of Middlesex Path) I discovered another batch of litter (much of it alcohol). We need to look at the stuff we're picking up. Has a lot to do with sadness, disconnection, hopelessness, and escape. Why are some of our young people taking this route? In Natick we have wonderful programs (athletics, music, drama, speech, robotics, etc.). They reach many kids; but there are a number of young people (out of their reach) and not all that well connected to our families, schools, churches, and community. So what are we going to do about it? How do we reach out and start the conversation with these kids, bring them in, find out what they're thinking about, relate to them? WE can do this. --pat
