Jordan's Furniture President: 'Stores Will Close So Employees and Customers Watch the Debate'
Jordan's Furniture is closing at 8 p.m. so its employees and customers can watch the debate, announced the store's president.

NATICK, MA—If you were planning on shopping for furniture, or were originally scheduled to work Monday night at Jordan's Furniture, it is being urged you watch the presidential debate instead.
At a MassPort event held on Monday, Sept. 19, at the Conley Container Terminal in South Boston that was attended by dozens of politicians including Governor Baker, Lt. Governor Polito, Congressman Stephen Lynch, and US Rep Michael Capuano, Jordan’s Furniture President/CEO Eliot Tatelman announced that he would close all Jordan’s stores on Monday, Sept. 26, at 8 p.m. so that all employees and customers could watch the first Presidential Debate between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump live with their family and friends, said the press release.
“This is a very important election for our families, for our children and for future generations,” said Tatelman in a statement. “By watching the debate live, it will give people the opportunity to make an educated decision and cast a responsible vote, so we are closing all Jordan’s Furniture stores at 8 p.m."

“I also hope that other companies and retailers consider closing and allowing their staff to do the same thing…go home and watch this important event on live TV with their loved ones,” added Tatelman in a press release. “The world is changing. It is important that voters know who and what they are voting for by educating themselves. The upcoming debate will provide the political views and the personal characteristics of both candidates.”
