K9 Axel Nabs Man Hiding in Brush, Finds Pot and Cocaine in Dunkin Donuts Bag
Axel the K9 assisted Natick police with two arrests this month so far.
NATICK, MA—Natick police said its been a busy month so far for their "favorite four-legged cop."
Last week, shortly after midnight, Officer Mabardy was driving home from work and heard the oncoming shift being dispatched to a domestic incident on West Central Street. The suspect had fled on foot, so Officer Mabardy searched the area in his cruiser and deployed K-9 Axel on the scene. The suspect came out of the brush, and he was arrested.
And earlier in May, K9 Axel and Officer Mabardy made a narcotic sweep of a vehicle in a neighboring community. While searching the interior of the vehicle, K9 Axel alerted on the seams at the rear of the cup holder area. Once the cup holders were removed a hidden compartment was located. The "hide" consisted of an aftermarket fan and aftermarket wiring in an attempt to conceal the narcotics. Officers found a bad of marijuana and two grams of crack cocaine. The driver was arrested.
