Yesterday morning (5/28) I got some terrific help from Trail Buddies (Tom Lally, Buz Bragdon, and Ben Young) at Pegan Cove Park. • We made a lot of progress with the knotweed in the upper stream area (knocking it down to "ankle height"). Plus many ferns and other plants we had transplanted over the past couple of years were thriving there in the understory. • Bob, we stayed away from your special zone. • With a similar size crew, we can likely "whack most of it down to size" the 2nd Week of June. Of course it will be 2' taller because it grows about 1' per week at this time of year.• Just a reminder to join us next week (Mon., Tues., and Wed., 6/2 - 6/4, 10 am - Noon) for our Third Annual Fisk Pond - Rte 135 - Middlesex Path Clean-up with Volunteers from Mathworks Corp. We'll be doing a combination of on-water cleaning (in kayaks and canoes), roadway clean-up, and cutting back invasive vines (like bittersweet) along Middlesex Path. I realize that it's during the work week, but we'd love to have you work with us. --Pat
