Lost Gun Reported Near Natick Elementary School

Natick police were searching the area around Lilja Elementary Thursday morning after the owner reported misplacing the weapon.

NATICK, MA — Natick police searched an area near Lilja Elementary School Thursday morning after a gun owner reported that they may have misplaced a firearm.

According to police, the gun owner said that they may have left the gun on top of their car and drove away. The gun was not lost on school property, police said.

"The firearm was not lost on school grounds but the vehicle took a route that led past the school," Natick Chief James Hicks said in a Facebook message Thursday morning.

Police had already searched the Bacon Street area using K9 dogs and did not find anything. The gun was not located until Thursday evening. It was found along I-95 by state police.
