MA Legislature Passes $1.9 Billion Transportation Funding
H.69 authorizes funding for investments in municipal bridges and roads, rail and highway projects

BOSTON- Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick) joined his colleagues in the Massachusetts Legislature in passing a bill authorizing $200 million for Chapter 90 funding to help municipalities complete road, bridge, and infrastructure improvement projects. The bill also facilitates the financing of $1.5 billion for highway projects and $200 million for rail projects at the Massachusetts Department of Transportation.
“Economic growth in our Commonwealth starts on the local level, and the Chapter 90 investments in municipal bridges and roads, as well as rail and highway projects, is essential to the Fifth Middlesex District and the Commonwealth as a whole,” said Representative Linsky. “One of my most important responsibilities to the Fifth Middlesex District is ensuring the safety of our infrastructure, and this important funding will allow for critical road and bridge repairs.”
Chapter 90 funds are determined by a formula based on a city or town’s total population, miles of road, and population statistics. Under this allocation, the towns of the Fifth Middlesex District received funding at the following levels:

H.69, An Act financing improvements to municipal roads and bridges, was passed by the Massachusetts House of Representatives on May 29th 152-0, and by the Massachusetts State Senate on June 6th 40-0. It was signed by Governor Charles Baker on June 6th.
