MA Primary To Feature State Dem, Republican Party Committee Races
See candidates running in the Second Middlesex and Norfolk districts who will appear on the March 3 ballot.

NATICK, MA — Once you're finished voting for a former Massachusetts governor in the March 3 presidential primary (Bill Weld and Deval Patrick will both be on there), you'll also be asked to pick state political party committee members.
Committee members are an important but perhaps overlooked part of the political process. They help with things like finding candidates to run for office, holding voter registration drives, and raising money. Voters in each senate district elect one state committeeman and one state committeewoman every four years.
In the Second Middlesex and Norfolk District — which includes parts of Framingham, Natick, Medway, Holliston, Ashland, Franklin, and Hopkinton — some well known names will be on the ballot running for the Republican and Democratic committee seats.

On the Republican side, Leda Arakelian, a Hopkinton resident and longtime member of the Hopkinton Republican Town Committee, will compete for the committeewoman seat against recently elected Framingham City Councilor Janet Leombruno. Martin Lamb, of Holliston, is running for the committeeman seat.
In a campaign announcement this week, Arakelian came out in support of President Donald Trump and his hard line immigration policies.

"I am proud to be running on the same ballot as President Donald Trump," she said in a statement. "I am committed to growing the GOP and recruiting strong candidates. The state House is tilting more and more to the extreme left."
Speaking of Democrats, Senate President Karen Spilka and state Rep. Jack Lewis are running for their party's committeewoman and committeeman seats unopposed.
