MA Students Score High on a Worldwide Scale

New test results reveal that students in the Bay State test as well as top scorers around the world.

MASSACHUSETTS, MA — Based on recent results, students from the Bay State are on a scale with other top-scorers around the world.

According to results from the Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), Massachusetts, if it were its own country, ties first for reading and second for science worldwide, reports Fox25 News. These results are based on a 2015 random sampling from 15-year-old students in the state, taken last fall.

According to a PISA report, the 2015 survey focused on science, with reading, mathematics and collaborative problem solving as minor areas of assessment. Approximately 540,000 students completed the assessment in 2015, representing about 29 million 15-year-olds in the schools of the 72 participating countries and economies.
