Man Dies Day Before Twins Are Born; More Than $50,000 Raised

A Natick man died unexpectedly in his sleep before his wife gave birth to their twins.

NATICK, MA — Karen DeVincent went to high school with Sue Trubiano, and remembers feeling true joy for her when she saw the announcement that she'd be giving birth to twins soon.

Soon after, friends such as DeVincent and family were heartbroken to hear that Sue's husband, Dino, passed away unexpectedly only a day before their babies were born.

"Being a mom, and knowing what an emotional time having babies can be my heart truly broke for Sue," wrote DeVincent in a message to Patch.

DeVincent created a GoFundMe page for Sue and friends and family have rallied around her, raising more than $51,000 so far.

Dino died in his home on Friday morning, a day before Sue was scheduled to have a cesarean section. She heard gasps from her husband that morning, and he stopped breathing, but EMTs were unable to revive him, reports Fox 25 News.

The Trubianos' twin boys were born on March 26; Sue and the boys are healthy and doing well.

"Not seeing Sue since high school," wrote DeVincent, "I knew I would not be someone she would call for baby duty or to clean the house (though I would in a heartbeat). I felt like I had to do something to help! I started the page just hoping high school friends and the Natick community would come together and raise some money for her and her new little ones. I never imagined it would do so well. I am beyond grateful for every donation and well wish."

DeVincent added that so many in the community have offered support, even those who did not know Dino.

"People who never spoke to Dino appreciated seeing him jog by their homes," she said. "He always sent a smile and friendly wave. So many in the community have offered and are ready to support Sue and her boys without ever meeting her just from Dino's friendly encounters. This is a devastating event that no one should ever encounter. It is unbelievable. My only hope is that Sue, her new babies and all those close to Dino and Sue feel how loved they truly are. There is so much good in the world."
