NATICK, MA — A state trooper this week helped deliver a baby in a much better place than the side of the Mass Pike.

Near 8 a.m. on Monday, Weston-based trooper Paule Dabene was on patrol along the rush hour-choked Mass Pike in Natick when a man flagged him down from the breakdown lane.

The man explained that his wife was in labor and needed to get to the hospital quickly. Dabene hopped in his cruiser and cleared traffic to help the expecting parents make it to Newton-Wellesley Hospital.
