“Our MetroWest colleges and universities are continually growing and expanding the role they play in our communities,” said Representative Carolyn Dykema (D-Holliston). “Ensuring that their students have state-of-the-art facilities paves the way for young people to get the skills and opportunities they need to compete in the modern workforce right here at home.”
Representative Carmine Gentile (D –Sudbury) stated that, "The $8.3 Million for Framingham State University will further the creation of a regional collaborative education center, provide a home for the MetroWest Economic Research Center, and a new College of Business - educating our leaders of tomorrow, equipping graduates with the skills and knowledge needed for good jobs and careers." Gentile further observed that, "Massachusetts leads the nation - the only state to have more than 50% of its job force with a college degree. This grant is a small but important part of our continuing to build excellence in public higher education."
“I am honored to be a part of such a close delegation that advocates successfully for the needs of our region, particularly when it comes to supporting education and economic development in MetroWest,” said Representative Jack Lewis (D-Framingham). “This additional funding for Framingham State and MassBay is a testament to that.”
Representative Linsky also filed an amendment that will bring $5,000,000 to the International Museum of World War II – located in Natick – for acquisition of land, construction, or expansion of facilities.
“The rare artifacts and documents, along with the sheer magnitude of the collection at the International Museum of World War II are truly amazing. This museum provides a truly hands-on experience for all those who pass through its doors,” said Representative Linsky. “We are truly lucky to have such a museum located right here in Natick, MA, and I am pleased that the state will continue to support this one-of-a-kind museum.”
