Millis, Natick and Sherborn awarded Fire Safety Education Grants
266 communities across the state receive grants for fire safety for youth and seniors

Boston – Representative David Linsky (D-Natick) announced today that Millis, Natick, and Sherborn are to be awarded grants aimed to support fire education programs for children and older adults. 266 communities will receive Student Awareness of Fire Education (S.A.F.E) and Senior SAFE grants in statewide funding.
The average number of children dying in fires annually has dropped by about 80% since the S.A.F.E. program began in 1996. Today, it is our seniors who face the most disproportionate risk of suffering serious injuries due to fires. Since launching in 2014, the Senior SAFE grants are working to follow the same successes that the S.A.F.E program has provided to our children.
“The S.A.F.E program continues to provide invaluable fire safety services to our communities year after year.” said Representative Linsky “I am proud to see that Millis, Natick, and Sherborn will all receive grants this year. I want to thank the Baker-Polito administration for awarding the Fifth Middlesex with the generous grants.”
