MSBA Funding Approved for Kennedy Middle School

The Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has approved the funding for the rebuilding of the John F. Kennedy Middle School.

BOSTON- Representative David P. Linsky (D-Natick) is excited to announce that the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) has approved the funding for the rebuilding of the John F. Kennedy Middle School. Both the MSBA and the Town of Natick have executed a Project Funding Agreement, the final step in the process.

The current Kennedy Middle School building holds 115% of its design capacity; this proposed renovation allows the school to house over 1,000 students and includes energy saving efforts and a new auditorium.

“We are thrilled about the Town’s overwhelming support for the long-awaited rebuilding of Kenney Middle School. The children of our Town are of the upmost priority and giving the tools they need to succeed is imperative,” said Representative Linsky. “The renovation of the Kennedy Middle School will give these students those tools, while at the same time setting a precedent for more energy efficient measures to the Natick School system.”

The project is estimated to cost $109.5 million; however, the Massachusetts School Building Authority will contribute a sizeable amount to the financing of this project, which will likely amount to around $37 million. During the annual town election last March, 85.6% of voters approved the rebuilding of the school.
