Much Interest in a Yet-to-Open Cannabis Training School in Natick

While the small training school set to open in a Natick office park is planning to start classes on Sept. 8, and has had at least 1,500 people inquiring about it, reported the Boston Globe.

With interest as far away as Spain and Russia, this trade school, so to speak, is called the Northeastern Institute of Cannabis, and with two classrooms, will train medical dispensary workers. There are others in Massachusetts, including the New England Grass Roots Institute and the Cannabis Career Institute.

Voters approved Massachusetts opening of medical marijuana facilities in 2012, with a law that allows up to 35 in the state. By the end of January, 2014, the Massachusetts Department of Public Health gave licenses for 20 dispensaries in 19 communities, according to NPR.

The Northeastern Institute of Cannabis will have a student lounge and job fairs, said the Globe, and is adding furniture and ordering textbooks before the start of the school year.

The two- to four-week program coasts $1,500 for 12 classes.

According to the Northeastern Institute of Cannabis website, where you can sign up for classes, “The mission of the Institute of Cannabis is to advance knowledge and educate students in cannabis as a plant, the cannabis industry, and other areas of learning that are of importance to cannabis culture and business. The Institute is dedicated to creating, understanding, protecting, and the sharing of information; and developing a community of educated citizens that can apply their knowledge to the reemerging cannabis environment.”
