Mark R. Haranas, president and CEO of MutualOne Bank and a trustee of the MutualOne Charitable Foundation, has announced a recent $2,500 Foundation grant to the Massachusetts Horticultural Society (Mass Hort) Garden to Table program.

The funds will be used for improvements to Mass Hort’s cold frame greenhouse structure at its Dover garden, where up to 4,000 pounds of organic vegetables are grown each year for the Natick Service Council’s Food Pantry, which serves more than 5,300 Natick residents.

“The Garden to Table program goes a long way in helping to meet the needs of our neighbors who are economically disadvantaged or who may be facing a temporary crisis,” said Haranas. “The Foundation is happy to help make the necessary greenhouse repairs at the garden, to ensure the program’s continued success.”

The grant to support the Massachusetts Horticultural Society’s Garden to Table initiative was among awards totaling $63,375 in the MutualOne Charitable Foundation’s most recent round of funding. Since it was established in 1998, the Foundation has donated over $2.8 million to charitable, educational, and civic initiatives that improve and enhance the quality of life in Framingham, Natick, and surrounding communities.
