Natick Awarded $400,000 Complete Streets Grant from MassDOT for Project Construction

BOSTON - The Town of Natick was one of 15 communities in the Commonwealth awarded a Complete Streets Grant from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), receiving a grant for nearly $400,000 for its Complete Streets project.

The Town of Natick's Complete Streets project aims to accommodate all road users by creating a road network that meets the needs of individuals utilizing a variety of transportation modes. The project will focus on developing a connected, integrated network that serves all road users. Natick will use the funds to construct additional lighted crosswalks - similar to the one in use between the Natick Town Hall and the Morse Institute Library - at various locations along Route 135, and on Speen Street.

"I am pleased that Natick was one of the 15 communities that met the requirements to receive a Complete Streets Grant," said Representative David Linsky (D-Natick). "The funds will allow Natick to provide roadways that will be both safe and efficient for all users."

Complete Streets are designed and operated to provide safety and accessibility for all users of roadways, trails, and transit systems, including pedestrians, bicyclists, transit riders, motorists, commercial vehicles, and emergency vehicles, and for people of all ages and abilities.
