VIDEO: Natick Varsity Hockey Ties in Season Opener

In their first game of the season the Red and Blue erased a late two goal deficit to earn a hard fought tie against Weymouth 4-4.

In their first game of the season, the Red and Blue erased a late two goal deficit to earn a hard fought tie against Weymouth 4 to 4.

After a scoreless first period Natick got on the board first in the second with a goal by Mike Perry.  Weymouth answered quickly however scoring two goals in 15 seconds to take a 2 to 1 lead.  Natick was able to tie it up with their second power play goal of the period as Derek Butler lit the lamp.  The Red and Blue trailed however after the second period 3 to 2 and ultimately found themselves down 4 to 2 with just over five minutes to play in the third.

Natick didn't give up, however, as Tim Dunn scored their third power play goal of the game and Andrew Newis tied it with 45 seconds to go with a pin-point pass from linemate Mike Pennett to give Natick the tie in a season opening thriller.  Natick goalie Jeff Rausch made several big stops in net as well to help Natick earn their first point of the young season.
