Natick Chiefs: 'We're Not Going to Arrest Our Way Out of the Opioid Epidemic'
Natick's police chief and fire chief reached out to the community with a message about the opioid epidemic.

NATICK, MA—Like many other Massachusetts communities, Natick battles and struggles with the opioid epidemic. To address this, Police Chief James Hicks and Fire Chief Richard White recently reached out to the community with a message reminding the town of its approach to the epidemic.
"We see addiction as a public health issue," said the announcement. "It's not about morals or strength of character. Addiction can effect anyone from any family. Together we can confront the stigma of addiction that prevents families from seeking the help that they need."
Natick, they continue, adheres to the Good Samaritan Law. That means protection from prosecution for those who call 911 in the event of an overdose.
