Natick Electricity Aggregation Program Prices Decrease In December
The new prices will be cheaper than the residential basic service offered by Eversource, at least through the end of 2023, officials said.

News release from Town of Natick.
NATICK, MA — Prices for the Natick Electricity Aggregation Program, a group electricity purchasing program provided by the Town of Natick as a service to the community, will decrease by approximately 5 cents/kWh in December 2023. The new prices will also be lower than Eversource’s current residential Basic Service through December 31. Because Eversource’s prices beyond that date are not yet known, future savings cannot be guaranteed.
The change will occur as the current electricity supply contract with First Point Power ends and a new, 24-month contract, with First Point Power takes effect. The new contract will also provide increasing amounts of clean, renewable electricity to most participants.

The new prices and renewable content for each option are as follows:
Standard Green – Lowering to 15.561 cents/kWh. At the same time, the total amount of renewable energy provided from new projects in the New England region (MA Class I RECs) will increase from 41% in 2023 to 46% in 2024 and to 52% in 2025. The increases reflect an annual increase in the Commonwealth’s renewable electricity requirements and a 3% annual increase in the amount of additional renewable electricity sourced through Natick’s Electricity Aggregation Program. However, while the amount of renewable energy will increase each year, the Standard Green price will not change for the full 24 months of the contract.

100% Green – Lowering to 17.474 cents/kWh: This option includes 100% renewable electricity from new renewable energy projects in our region (MA Class I RECs).
Natick Basic/Brown – Lowering to 14.680 cents/kWh: This option includes no additional renewable electricity above the state minimum requirement.
The new prices are designed to provide long-term stability and are fixed for 24 months from December 2023 to December 2025 meter reads. The Standard Green and Natick Basic/Brown prices will be below Eversource’s current residential Basic Service price of 16.078 cents/kWh. However, Eversource’s Basic Service prices change seasonally, and future prices are unknown. As a result, savings compared with Eversource’s Basic Service cannot be guaranteed.
Natick Electricity Aggregation Program is offered as a service to the community, and the Town does not benefit financially. However, the program has a track record of providing measurable value to participants, including providing price protection during last winter’s volatile electricity market. To date, Natick Electricity Aggregation Program has saved participants more than $2.2 million since the program’s launch in 2015 through September 2023.
No action is required for current Natick Electricity Aggregation Program participants. All active program participants will automatically be enrolled into the new First Point Power contract with their December 2023 meter read. The new program price will first appear on January 2024 Eversource electric bills, and the electricity supplier will be listed as “First Point Natick Electricity Agg.”
Participants will be enrolled in the same program option they have in the current First Point Power contract. However, participants may choose a different program option or leave the program before the new First Point Power contract takes effect, and at any time in the future, with no penalty or fee. Additional terms and conditions apply to large commercial customers.
