Natick Events Recognize National Recovery Month

Natick 180 has organized two upcoming community events about substance use disorder and recovery.

NATICK, MA — Natick 180, the town's community resource for addiction, will host two upcoming events to highlight National Recovery Month. The events will cover topics like self-care for people in recovery, and how find mental health resources.

The first event called “Navigating Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Treatment Programs in the Community and the Hospital” is a webinar scheduled Sept. 24 from 7 to 8 p.m. Webinar participants will join Natick 180, the Natick Health Department and MetroWest Medical Center for a presentation and discussion with members of MetroWest Medical Center’s behavioral health team. The team will provide an overview of the levels of care for mental health and substance use disorders and helpful things to know when navigating these treatment systems. Presenters include Scott Munger, Market Director of Behavioral Medicine, Gabriela Harvey, Department Manager of Evaluation and Referral Services, Amy Booxbaum, Chief of Social Work and Melanie Hannon, Regional Director of Partial Hospital. The second event called “Discover Your Pathway” is scheduled for Sept. 30 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. The event presents many pathways to recovery and recognizes that each person has their own journey. Event participants will hear from several people in recovery about the supports, services and self-care strategies they have used to build their health and well-being. Participants are welcome to join the virtual event to get some ideas on pathways to recovery, share their own journey and celebrate recovery! Panelists include people in recovery from around MetroWest and Greater Boston. This event is a collaboration between the Natick 180 Coalition, The Natick Health Department, Justice Resource Institute, The Massachusetts Organization for Addiction Recovery and The South Middlesex Opportunity Council.
