Natick Fire Caused By Faulty Gas Grill

NATICK, MA — A faulty gas grill is to blame for a Tuesday fire that caused minor injuries in Natick.

Natick fire officials said they responded to a two-alarm structure fire on Sheffield Road around 5:50 p.m. on Tuesday evening.

The fire was eventually extinguished, but not before one person suffered minor burns and the home suffered "extensive damage," fire officials said.

In a statement to the MetroWest Daily News, Fire Chief Jason Ferschke noted that proper grill maintenance is important to prevent fires of this nature.

"It's important to make sure that you inspect and clean your gas grill on a regular basis," Ferschke told the publication. "Checking the hoses and burners for damage from the elements and normal use. Maintain a safe distance from combustibles and have a fire extinguisher handy."
