Natick Fire Chief To Retire At End Of Contract

NATICK, MA — The Natick Select Board will begin discussions this month about finding a replacement for Natick Fire Department Chief Michael Lentini, who is retiring at the end of his contract next year.

In a letter sent to the Select Board in April, Lentini said he would retire by May 4, 2022, which is the end date of his most recent contract.

"I would like to thank the board for your support over the last three years and look forward to it in the coming year," Lentini wrote in the April 26 letter. "I will be happy to help the board in any way I can as you begin the hiring process for a new chief sometime in the near future."

Lentini was picked to become chief in 2018 from a group of several candidates, including Natick Deputy Chief Daniel Dow and an assistant chief from Rochester, NH. Lentini took over for former chief Richard White, who spent 32 years with the department. Lentini joined the department in 1990, which means his retirement will also come at 32 years.

The Natick Select Board will meet Wednesday at 6:30 p.m., and during the meeting will discuss the process for replacing the chief.
