Natick Football Picked in Top Polls

Natick is poised for a good season, according to the Boston Globe’s preseason Top 20 football poll.

In a list that puts Xaverian at the top, the Globe’s sports team ranks Natick High School’s team at number 8 on the list, noting that the team did lose Troy Flutie this year.

Flutie, a quarterback now at Boston College, is the son of Darren Flutie and is Doug Flutie’s nephew.

The Redhawks just squeaked in to ESPN’s top 25 rated teams, landing at number 25. ESPN said, “The Redhawks move on in the post-Troy Flutie era, but that adjustment should be eased by the presence of senior Nick Olson, who impressed in offseason passing leagues. It also helps that he’ll have a healthy Harvard-bound wideout Brian Dunlap at his disposal as well.”

Natick’s record last season was 10-1.
