Natick Man To Be Featured On Harpoon Bottles For Pan-Mass Efforts

NATICK, MA — A longtime Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) rider and volunteer from Natick will be one of three people featured on Harpoon IPA bottles this year, part of an effort to help the cancer fundraiser reach its $52 million 2021 goal.

Natick's Glynn Hawley has been riding in and volunteering for the PMC for close to 30 years. Hawley has also been living with cancer since 1995, and in 2017 lost a nephew to leukemia.

Hawley's full story will be printed on bottles of Harpoon IPA along with fellow riders and volunteers Jaime Schier of Hudson and Nicaela Chinnaswamy of Boston. Through Aug. 15, Harpoon will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of IPA to the PMC.

"These three riders each have their own personal connection to the organization, but all fight to support the same, worthy cause. We hope our fans will show them support in return as we collectively work to raise as much as we can for Dana-Farber Cancer Institute," Harpoon CEO Dan Kenary said in a news release.

The PMC is an annual bike-a-thon that, since its founding in 1980, has raised close to $800 million for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. This year, cyclists can choose from 16 different biking routes ranging from 25 miles to the two-day, 211-mile ride from Sturbridge to Provincetown.

The 2020 PMC was held virtually due to the coronavirus, and returns this year over the weekend of Aug. 7. As of Wednesday morning, the PMC was about halfway to its $52 million 2021 goal.
