SWAT Team In Natick For Barricaded Man
Natick police and a SWAT team responded to the Pond Street neighborhood.
NATICK, MA — Natick police shut down Pond Street Wednesday evening for an incident where a man barricaded himself in a home in the area. Police said they got a call at 3 p.m. from residents who were concerned for the well-being of a family member. Police said they consulted with mental health professionals before they responded and once they arrived on the scene realized they needed more assistance.
The Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC) negotiators responded and helped end the situation quickly, police said. They were helped by a SWAT team and mental health clinicians. One report indicated police encountered a man who was "walked out" of a residence.
The MetroWest Daily News reported that police called it a 'mental episode'. The man was taken to MetroWest Medical Center for evaluation.
