Natick Postpones Spring Election Due To Coronavirus

The Board of Selectmen made the decision Tuesday night, but have not set a new date yet.

NATICK, MA — Natick became the latest local town to postpone the spring election due to the new coronavirus outbreak. The Board of Selectmen approved the move, but did not set a new date yet.

Over the weekend, state Sen. Karen Spilka, D-Ashland, announced that she would introduce legislation to allow towns to postpone elections. The legislation was passed on Monday and quickly signed by Gov. Charlie Baker.

The bill only applies to elections that were set to be held before May 30. Natick's election was set for March 31.

Natick joins Sudbury and Wayland in postponing elections. The election featured candidates running for Select Board, School Committee, and other boards. There were no contested races in the election.
