Natick Public Schools Move To Fill Asst. Superintendent Spot

The district is moving to fill the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Innovation role.

NATICK, MA- Natick Public Schools announced Kirk Downing will be recommended to the School Committee to fill the role as permanent Assistant Superintendent for Teaching, Learning and Innovation.

The search process began in December and applications were reviewed by the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, the Director of Finance, the Director of Human Resources and the superintendent.

The pool of candidates was narrowed down to 12 candidates and 11 accepted an invitation to a fifteen minute screening interview with administrators. After narrowing the pool down even further and Kirk Downing was chosen to fill the role.

Downing has presented his RtI design to principals around Massachusetts and he has been a featured speaker for the EDCO principal preparation program as well as a guest instructor in other courses on RtI best practices. Downing was a board Member of the state’s elementary principal association, Massachusetts Elementary School Principal Association (MESPA,) for seven years and served as president of the association in 2016-2017. He holds certificates in Leadership and Blended Learning and in Assessment Leadership Academy through EdLeader21.

Downing will begin the permanent role pending successful contract negotiations.
