Natick Resident to Star in The Great Gatsby
TJ Rufo converses about his role in Moonstruck Theater Company's upcoming staged production of The Great Gatsby.

MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY, in association with Amazing Things Art Center of Framingham, is pleased to present the regional premiere of the American classic THE GREAT GATSBY, opening Friday, October 24, and running for seven performances through Sunday, November 2.
THE GREAT GATSBY, F. Scott Fitzgerald’s Jazz Age fable of doomed love and careless wealth, will be presented live on stage as you have never seen it before. This exciting new version, reinterpreted for the stage by Simon Levy, brings the American classic to life through the music of the era. Song and dance from the 1920s will accompany Levy’s exhilarating script to create an immersive theatrical experience.
THE GREAT GATSBY features 15 performers from the Boston and Metro West regions, including Natick resident TJ Rufo as a member of the West Egg Quartet, a jazz group that helps narrate the story through music and dance.

“I was drawn to the show by its concept; in particular the choice to incorporate era-specific music, performed live by the cast, to comment on and narrate the story to create a unique version of the iconic Gatsby tale,” says Rufo. “People should come to see this show for two reasons: first, the size of the theater provides an intimate experience for the audience. Second, the music and choreography add an exciting new dimension to the story.”
Rufo has been involved with theater since 1999. In that time, three roles have stood out to him as notable favorites: Enoch Snow in Carousel, Harry in Company, and Seymour in Little Shop of Horrors. Rufo works as a French teacher at Natick High School and is working on his Master’s degree during the summer at the French School at Middlebury College, VT. He is also the tenor section leader and soloist at First Parish Church in Weston, MA.
