NATICK, MA — Some Natick residents have complained about the quality of the pay-as-you-throw (PAYT) trash bags. Several people have taken to social media to voice concern over faulty bags. Complaints ranged from drawstrings fusing to the bag to bags ripping altogether.

The town responded by directing residents to the customer service number of the vendor, Wastezero. The town reassured residents that the vendor will honor all quality issues by immediately shipping a replacement sleeve of bags. People can also bring the defective bag to the retailer they bought it from or the Department of Public Works and swap it for a replacement sleeve.

Wastezero's customer service number is 1-800-866-3954.

The complaints come just as the price increase for the blue bags took effect earlier this month. This is the first time in 16 years that the price has gone up. Bags are still available at no cost to residents who qualify for water / sewer discounts and from the Natick Service Council for its clients.

The price for 15-gallon bags went from $1.00 to $1.25 and the price for 33-gallon bags went from $1.75 to $2.25. Selectmen had a 4-1 vote in January to increase the price, which will help pay the town trash disposal cost.
