Natick Select Board OKs $250K For Purchase Of New Tasers

NATICK, MA — The Natick Police Department is one step closer to getting a collection of new tasers after a recent Select Board meeting.

Board members unanimously passed a measure that will allow for the purchase of $259,224 of new tasers. That's just step one of the process, however, as the matter needs to be approved at Town Meeting.

A lease finance process is the most likely approach for the town, according to officials at the meeting.

This comes as Deputy Town Administrator and Finance Director John Townsend said the current tasers make it difficult for the department to fix, as it's a challenge to find replacement parts or get them serviced.
