Natick Sucks It Up Again

I was very disheartened to learn that the owners of 50 Pleasant Street in South Natick received even a mediated settlement for their preposterous claim that racial discrimination prevented them from developing their land exactly the way they wanted to. It seems that playing the race card has become quite commonplace in today’s social and political environment. It is extremely ludicrous in this particular case as one of the plaintiffs is a longtime employee of the Town of Natick. I can’t help but wonder what degree of collusion was at play here.

Town Administration maintains that the settlement was in the best interest of the Town, but I maintain that seemingly successful extortion is only in the best interest of the perpetrator. So, the claimants here got a double win. They received a 1.6M settlement, plus the go ahead for the modified development of their land. I can only suggest that the various inspectors of the future project tread lightly for fear of another frivolous lawsuit.
