Ex-Natick Town Meeting Member Wants MA Trucker Convoy: Report
Suzanne Ianni, charged in the Jan. 6 riot, has been using a right-wing app to organize a convoy over COVID-19 vaccines, GBH reported.

NATICK, MA — An ex-Natick Town Meeting member charged in the 2020 U.S. Capitol riot may be trying to organize a local trucker convoy in opposition to COVID-19 vaccines, according to GBH.
Suzanne Ianni, 60, was charged last January after she was photographed inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 along with scores of other rioters. According to GBH, Ianni has been active on the social media app Telegram — used as an organizing tool by many Capitol rioters — trying to organize a trucker convoy.

In recent weeks, truckers have swamped the Canadian capital Ottawa in opposition to the nation's vaccine mandate for people crossing into the U.S. Elsewhere in the nation, Canadian truckers have blocked key routes, like the Ambassador Bridge between Ontario and Detroit.
The U.S. does not have any national COVID-19 vaccine mandates. The Supreme Court in January struck down an effort by President Joe Biden to require workplaces with more than 100 employees to mandate vaccinations. Employees who refused would be required to wear masks and undergo frequent COVID-19 testing.

Ianni has been active in right-wing causes in recent months. She took part in a raucous anti-vaccine mandate "Rise Against Tyranny" event in Boston in November. Ianni was also celebrated at a "Heroes of Jan. 6" event in Auburn over the summer, which was partly a legal defense fundraiser.
Ianni was charged in 2021 with knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds — both misdemeanors. She pleaded not guilty to those charges in July. She appeared in federal court most recently on Feb. 2 for a status conference.
This article has been updated to reflect that Ianni is no longer a Town Meeting member due to an apparent move to Saugus, according to voter registration records.
