NATICK, MA — Natick became one of a handful of towns in Massachusetts this week to push back the spring 2020 Town Meeting over the new coronavirus outbreak.

Natick Town Moderator Frank Foss on Tuesday officially gave notice that Town Meeting would move from April 14 to mid-May. The postponement was made in consultation with the Board of Selectmen, but was ultimately Foss' decision to make.

Foss said that he moved to push the meeting back because of "multiple public health and safety recommendations to practice 'social distancing' between individuals in order to protect the public health due to the coronavirus pandemic."

Other towns that have pushed back Town Meeting include Wayland — which is also postponing its spring election — Wellesley, Duxbury, and Westborough. Natick has been hit especially hard by COVID-19 with seven residents who have tested presumptive positive for COVID-19 as of Wednesday morning.

The meeting is set to begin on May 12 at Wilson Middle School at 7:30 p.m. The Town Meeting warrant is available on the Natick website.
