Natick VNA Receives Donation from Natick Woman's Club

Natick VNA recently received 16 handmade lap blankets from the Natick Woman's Club's Community Service Committee.

Natick Visiting Nurse Association (Natick VNA), the area’s premier free-standing, not-for-profit home health care agency, recently received 16 handmade lap blankets from the Natick Woman’s Club’s Community Service Committee. The blankets will be distributed by Natick VNA clinicians to patients in the agency’s ComfortCare palliative care program.

ComfortCare aims to improve the quality of life of patients undergoing treatment for serious, chronic or terminal illnesses like cancer or chronic pulmonary obstructive disorder (COPD), for example. Palliative care focuses on managing patient pain and on providing relief of symptoms like fatigue, loss of appetite, difficulty swallowing nausea and constipation that may be caused by medical treatment. Palliative care also improves patients’ ability to tolerate those medical treatments.

“The lap blankets that Natick Woman’s Club generously donated will undoubtedly add an element of comfort and warmth to those patients who need it most,” said Natick VNA CEO Judith Boyko, MBA, MS, RN.
