Ianni was photographed inside the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6 with fellow Super Happy Fun America member Mark Sahady, a Malden resident. The group hired 11 buses to ferry local conservatives to a rally organized by former president Donald Trump that coincided with Congress certifying the 2021 election.

Following a speech by Trump on Jan. 6, rally attendees marched to the Capitol, and hundreds flooded into the building while fighting with police. A rally attendee, Ashli Babbitt, of California, was shot and killed by Capitol police during a confrontation near the House chambers. Four other people died, as did Capitol police officer Brian Sicknick.
